Fractured elbow from shelf collapse -- $225,000 verdict
A four year old Lorain boy was injured when the store's shelf collapsed when he was reaching for a toy. The boy fractured his elbow. The store claimed that the shelf was secure and that the boy slipped when he stepped on the shelf prior to it collapsing. The jury agreed with Miraldi and Barrett that the shelf was not properly secured when there was no credible evidence that the boy had weakened the shelf.
