Negligence in reading mammogram -- 2 million dollar settlement

An Avon Lake woman saw her ob-gyn for her annual exam and was concerned about a lump she said that she could feel on her left breast.  The doctor sent her for a mammogram that was read as negative.  This was repeated the next year.  However, the lump continued to grow and it was decided to remove the "benign" lump.  Pathology revealed Stage IV carcinoma.  Despite heroic efforts, the mother of two passed away.  Miraldi and Barrett retained experts in mammogram interpretation who found that the earlier mamograms were misread and did show signs of a malignant lesion.  Miraldi and Barrett proved that the cancer should have been diagnosed when it was Stage II and the woman should have survived.
