Staph infection from bed spring -- $475,000 settlement
The client was a guest at a hotel. The box springs had a spring that stuck out from the side of the bed that scratched the client. He later developed a staph infection that led to a lengthy hospitalization and long period of disability. Miraldi and Barrett was able to demonstrate that the only possible open wound on the client's body came from this scratch and was able to show that the mattress spring cut led to the staph infection. Miraldi and Barrett also had to demonstrate that the hotel was aware or should have been aware of the condition.
